Q 1.1: Am I allowed to download the videos?

Yes, if the videos are for your own personal use, or use in a school.

 

Q 1.2: What restrictions are there on copying the lesson notes and exercises?

You may print individual copies of the lesson notes and exercises for your own personal use. A school may photocopy them for use within the school.

 

Q 1.3: Can I access the videos more than once?

Yes.

 

Q 2.1: Can I ask for help and advice?

David does not offer private tuition on a one to one basis, but may answer queries of a general nature.

 

Q 2.2: Can I request a video lesson on a particular topic?

Yes, you can email a suggestion for a lesson. This may lead to early recording of a lesson on that topic. However, this cannot be guaranteed.

 

Q 2.3: Can anyone sign the guestbook?

Yes.

 

Q 3.1: How do I make best use of the lessons?

You will find it helpful to print out the lesson notes (transcript) before watching the video. The lesson notes are much the same as what you will see David write on screen. You can always add to them as you are watching.

 

Q 3.2: How do I make best use of the exercises?

Unlike most textbooks, our exercises come with full solutions to every question. An exercise covers exactly the same kind of questions as the associated video lesson and usually takes 20 to 30 minutes to complete. If you find an exercise difficult try doing a single question and then looking at the solution to see how you are doing.

 

Q 3.3: How often should I watch a lesson?

That is personal choice and will depend on how long you have left before your exams. However, you are likely to benefit most if you get into a routine of working through one or two lessons per week.

 

Q 3.4: Are The Maths Teacher lessons suitable for KS3 students?

Certainly the Foundation GCSE lessons are suitable. David uses them regularly with KS3 students. Topics such as linear equations, percentages and fractions are taught to Year 7 students, so the lessons can be used to stretch able students and also to help weaker students to consolidate what they do in class.
